Why the Waist-to-Height Ratio Matters

The Waist-to-Height Ratio is a simple yet powerful way to measure fat distribution around your midsection. Research shows that excess abdominal fat can raise the risk of various health issues. In response, both the Air and Space Forces have rolled out the Waist-to-Height Ratio Body Composition Program (BCP), with assessments starting in April 2023.

Key points to remember about the new policy:

  • 💡 WHtR is separate from the DAF Physical Fitness Assessment.

  • 🏆 It specifically targets abdominal fat distribution, a critical marker for overall health.

  • 📅 Airmen and Guardians will measure their waist, then divide by their height to get their WHtR.

  • ✍️ Input your waist measurement in inches or centimeters.

  • 🙌 Input your height in the same unit.

  • Review your WHtR to see if you’re within a healthy range.
