🏆 Why You Need a Veteran ID Card
Thanks to the Purple Heart and Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act of 2018, qualified veterans can now access:
🛒 Commissaries
🛍️ Exchange stores (BX, PX, NEX, MCX, CGX)
🎉 MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) services
To access these benefits, you need a Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)—not the standard VA card you use at the hospital.
✅ Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
To qualify for base access with a VHIC, you must:
📋 Be enrolled in VA health care
💥 Have a service-connected disability rating (0% or higher)
💜 Be a Purple Heart recipient
⚠️ Be a former Prisoner of War (POW)
💡 You don’t need to be retired or have a 100% disability rating—any rating counts!
🏥 Step 2: Enroll in VA Health Care
